I am Vishnu Pammamul (my friends in the opal industry call me Vincent) and Melbourne Opal Centre is my family's business since it started in 1901 as R. Pammamul and Sons. I migrated to Australia in 1966 at the age of 20 armed with a degree in Arts, with the intention of further studies; and ended up being a part of the family business when I started off as a manager in 1967 at our branch in the Southern Cross Hotel, Melbourne.

The amazingly beautiful and unique Opal inspires me, and brings me tranquillity, harmony and unity of mind. In its colours, I've seen the ocean, the clouds and the earth, the sky from sunrise to dusk, and the stars and the moon at night.
